Wishing You a Happy and Safe Labor Day Weekend
So often we celebrate a holiday and we don't really know the history of the holiday. Thought you might be interested in these facts from Wikipedia:
"It became a federal holiday in 1894, when, following the deaths of a number of workers at the hands of the U.S. military and U.S. Marshals during the Pullman Strike, President Grover Cleveland put reconciliation with the labor movement as a top political priority. Fearing further conflict, legislation making Labor Day a national holiday was rushed through Congress unanimously and signed into law a mere six days after the end of the strike."
The Bluffs' Board and Office Management Team wish you a happy and safe Labor Day Weekend. Our office will be closed on Monday; however, if you have an emergency please remember to call 949-759-1200. This phone number is attended 24/7 to assist you with any after-hours emergency.
Music on the Green(s) - A Huge Success
Since 1995 the Bluffs' has presented Music on the Green. This year's event was held on August 15, 2010. You can read the whole story here on our News Spotlight page.
As one neighbor said: "our pals ...were delighted with the event....would rate it as the best of these events so far!"
Be sure and see our Music on the Green 2010 Photo Album. Remember you can view the album as a slide show by clicking on the first photo. Also, this album contains two pages...don't miss any of the fun pictures.
Visit Our New Health and Wellness Page
Our Bluffs' neighbor, Norman C. Myers, M.D., offered to present a Wellness Lecture Series.
The second in this series of lectures, "Personal Health & Wellness", is planned for October 13, 2010, at 7:00PM in the Fiesta Room. Dr. Myers will discuss "Preventing Heart Disease."
We now have a Health and Wellness page where you can read articles provided by Dr. Myers.
• Children always need to be supervised. (“Drowning is a quick, silent event.”)
• Always have your cellphone with you for emergencies...call 911 immediately for help! Know how to identify your pool location.
• Look for where the rescue equipment is located when you first arrive at the pool.
• Don’t rely on personal flotation devices to keep your child safe.
• If your child or some one else’s child starts being boisterous, hitting another child or running around the pool decks, be the adult.... and remind them that that is unacceptable behavior at our pools, then think of something pleasant to divert them with like... “Are you excited to be going into the next grade?” or something. Help them calm down.
• Know where your teens are. Remind them of the possible lifetime injuries that could come from jumping off our ramada roofs.
